For people from Kyoto, Kyoto Tower is the symbol of their home town. If you were in a train coming back from your trip, watching Kyoto Tower in the window getting closer little by little would surely bring you a peace of mind.
Completed in 1964 and 131 meters tall, the tower is symbolic of a beacon which lights up the city of Kyoto from the sea. Its viewing platform commands a stunning panorama including the very beautiful "Higashiyama Sanju-Roppo' (36 mountain ranges)".
