The Fushimi (伏見) district is very famous for its quality water. Therefore, the name Fushimi was once described as 伏水 (underground water) in the old days. Since Fushimi is one of the most prominent places for Sake (酒) production in Japan, I, who is a huge Sake lover, am very excited visiting here. When Toyotomi Hideyoshi (豊臣秀吉) established Fushimi castle on this land back in the Azuchi-momoyama (安土桃山) period, the water transportation between Fushimi and Osaka (大阪) was developed accordingly.
Today, houseboats called Jikkokubune (十石舟) are in operation carrying sightseers from Sakugura (酒蔵, sake breweries) to Sakagura, in the midst of full blossomed spring flowers. As for me, well, I would take Sake if I had to chose Sake or flowers. LOL
