We YUMEYAKATA staff members are often asked by our customers about Tetsugaku-no-Michi (哲学の道, The Path of Philosophy). They often say, "In all seasons, the path is beautiful with an elegant atmosphere" and "I always wanted to visit the path".
The path is constructed along the Biwako Sosui (琵琶湖疏水, canal of Biwa lake ), and I also love this place very much. For Kyoto residents, it is the place for a date with your loved one. You know, many of us have a hand-in-hand kind of memory there. It's impressive name, "The Path of Philosophy" was given because of the fact that Professor/Philosopher Nishida Kitaro (西田幾多郎) of Kyoto University used to hang around there with other Philosophers. It was a very inspiring time to me, walking along the path watching Tsutsuji (躑躅, azalea) flowers fully blooming.
