Hydrangea and Murasakishikibu (Japanese Beautyberry)

The signature flower of this rainy season in Japan is Ajisai (紫陽花, hydrangeas). The view of pretty purple flowers blooming in the rain is a very pleasing comfort in this gloomy season. The calm and classy purple color is long-loved by many Kyoto residents.

When I was strolling in the Sagano (嵯峨野) area, I found Murasakishikibu (紫式部, Japanese Beautyberry) blossoms, a wild breed of Japan, blooming in harmony with Ajisai. The duet was so beautiful and just breathtaking to me.
