Jojakkoji Temple in Winter

Needless to say, Sagano district is a famous place for autumn foliage viewing. Among the many places in Sagano, the most beautiful place is Jojakkoji temple. In the Heian period, noble clans built their villas in this picturesque land, and composed tanka poems. The SHIGURE-TEI, a villa owned by Sadaie Fujiwara, the compiler of famous OGURA HYAKUNIN ISSYU (Ogura Anthology of One Hundred Tanka by One Hundred Poets) is said to be existed around here.

In the season of autumn foliage, the temple gets crowded with visitors, however, now it's so quiet here...This snowy scenery in silence is a gift from the nature. I think it's worth to see.
